Today, we’re looking at the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. And it’s a story that has something to teach us about how we should—or rather, how we should NOT—give thanks.
True thanksgiving – true Christian thanksgiving – begins with a recognition that, if we are in Christ, we havenot gotten what we deserve for our sin, but have instead gotten what we do notdeserve. We deserved judgment, but received mercy. We earned wrath, but were given grace. True thanksgiving from the heart is fueled by this fundamental reality.
And on the last day, when Jesus Christ judges the living and the dead, those who walk in the way of this pharisee will be brought low, while those who humble themselves before the Lord Jesus will be lifted up.

Remembering Your Loved Ones
November 2, 2024 at 7:00 pm
All Souls Day
The month of November holds a special place in the calendar of the Catholic Church. For centuries, it has been a time to remember those who have passed away, reminding us to celebrate their lives and how they continue to bless us.
We will remember our loved ones who have passed away this past year with a special candlelight service on All Souls Day, November 2, at 7:00 pm. If you would like to add a name for this service, contact the parish office or email Deacon Tom trothermich@gmail.com
Sorry if I’ve been a bit absent or tardy with Deacon’s Message. I’ve been taking some time traveling Iowa, Arkansas and Missouri with Gus, my horse.
We all need to pause and recognize God’s beauty all around us in His creation.
A Bit of Humor….
Have a Blessed week…
