Greetings from QHR!
This is the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time
for the Sunday Readings
for audio readings
In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus sends out his twelve apostles two by two. By Jesus' power they bind the spirits of offense, misunderstanding, and fear working on the persons with whom they share the Good News.
Perhaps what is most striking about the attitude of the disciples, as they begin their ministry, is their great detachment! They are not to carry failure with them. They must knock the dust of rejection off their feet, not dragging it with them into their homes.
Jesus expects all of us disciples will experience occasional rejection of our faith testimony, but this should cause rejoicing in us not despair, for it opens us to another form of intimacy with Christ.
As noted in the bulletin, starting August 1, we will celebrate Mass on Tuesdays at 6:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for those who cannot attend regular morning weekday Mass. Confession will be offered at 5:00 pm.
Ladies, come and play Bunco, visit with friends, and contribute to our parish auction! The QHR Wea Altar Society is sponsoring Bunco nights this summer for all of the
women in our parish. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to play Bunco, you can learn the rules in just a few minutes! See the
for more details!
Auction planning is well underway, and we are accepting donations and sponsorships now!
Keep donations in mind when you are traveling this summer or when you are visiting your favorite local shops
A Bit of Humor
Apologies for the repeat joke last week. (although it was almost good enough to publish twice). Your humble deacon hit send too soon!
This week is a true story!
Our 5 year old grandson James was visiting and we were having roast beef and cheese sandwiches. James grabs a piece of swiss cheese and gobbles it down. Watching in amazement, Grandma asks, "James, how can you eat that cheese so fast?"
James thinks a bit and responds with a straight face, "Well, it has holes in it!"
Have a GREAT week!
If you know someone who would want to receive the weekly email, please let me know and I can get them added.
Have a great week!
