The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
for the Sunday Readings
for audio readings
As we celebrate the last Sunday of the Church year, Luke's Gospel leaves us with a "holy picture" to remember and cherish. It is a crucifixion scene. Above the head of Jesus, a sign proclaims: "This is the king of the Jews." The soldiers and most of the crowd think that the sign is a bad joke. But a criminal who is hanging on a cross next to Jesus senses the truth about him. "Remember me when you come into your kingdom," he prays. And the king responds: "Today you will be with me in Paradise."
"No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." We might also say: "No king has greater love than this, to give up his life for his people." This is the kind of king Jesus was and is. Now he is a Risen King, and we rise with him each day—every time we respond to grace in our lives, every time we imitate our king by overcoming evil with good. What can you do this week to be like Christ the King in love, in forgiveness, in generosity, in works of peace and justice?

Delivering our Signature Traveling Turkey Baskets to over a thousand deserving families since 2009.There is no better way to show your gratitude for all your blessings this year than to help a family in need celebrate Thanksgiving with a traditional turkey meal. Please consider donating to our 100 basket goal for the 2022 season. While we only have a short time to get this accomplished, We can work together to provide over 400 people with a Thanksgiving dinner.

QHR Wea Parish is planning to use Giving Tuesday gifts for a new sound system in the Church. The parish has already been given a designated donation to upgrade the sound system. This bid includes integrating the speakers from the altar as well as upgrading the sound system for the choir and musicians. In working through the bidding process, we may need additional gifts to fully fund the project that will enrich our ability to hear the Word of the Lord and improve music at Mass.
